Workplace
– promoting the health of older employees in medium and small-scale enterprises

Project component role:
In the Bildungsmarkt’s component of the project “Generations”, specialists from the sport and fitness sector will cooperate with Berlin health insurance companies to develop a model for the implementation of health promoting measures for older employees customized to the needs of medium and small-scale enterprises.
Mission statement:
Selected medium and small-scale enterprises in Berlin shall act as a prototype to identify and, if possible, eliminate the impediments to health promoting measures (measures not tailored to a specific target group, time issues, financial shortages, etc.). To ensure both high-quality communication and sustainability, a network of participating enterprises, health insurance companies, the Berlin Sports Federation and the development partnership “Generations” shall be formed to accompany the process. The following measures are planned:
Talks with management; involvement of worker’s representatives, the company doctor, the occupational safety representative; previous experiences with health related measures; motive for participation
Information: raising employee awareness of personal health issues
Needs assessment/diagnosis – screening with a pilot group
Development and implementation of trial measures in the areas: fitness and movement, sports, anti-stress training, relaxation exercises
A second goal of this project component is the development and testing of a career qualification module “health adviser for the workplace” for students of vocational reeducation programs in the sports and fitness sector. This should open up career opportunities for both vocational reeducation students and other unemployed people with a background in sports or health in the field of occupational health.
