Project component: Mentoring 45+
– Securing the integration of women with low-level education into the labour market by means of mentoring.

Name of Agency: Goldnetz gGmbH

Website: http://www.goldnetz-berlin.de

Project component role:

Function of sub-project
The sub-project 'Mentoring 45+' addresses women with low-level education who, after their engagement on the primary labour market, will be individually guided and advised to guarantee sustainable long-term employment. The mentors are experienced working (e.g. in human resources departments and personnel boards) or retired women who offer their expertise on a voluntary basis. Within the framework of 'Generations – Berlin integrates experience' the key elements of mentoring, civil engagement and conservation of know-how are tailored to the specific needs of the new target group.

Task description
Mentoring is a fixed period working relationship between two people – the mentor and the mentee. The mentor supports the mentee in achieving their chosen professional goals.
The mentees can be former participants in Goldnetz gGmbH projects or join us by other multipliers (e.g work agency). The established techniques of mentoring will be adapted according to the needs of the target group, especially concerning abilities in staying power, problem resolution, communication and self-management.
The mentors will be inducted in workshops and will receive training on a continuous basis, thus they can refresh and optimise their personnel advisory skills and at the same time benefit through shared experience.
After the recruitment of mentors and mentees we will match at least 20 mentoring pairs in introductory workshops. The mentoring will continue on a mutually voluntary 'tandem' basis for a period of 12 months. Process oriented group meetings will be part of the supporting programme. At the end of the mentoring period a certificate will document the voluntary commitment of the participants.
Successful techniques will be evaluated regarding a possible transfer to further target groups (e.g. men). Products such as a Mentoring Guide for mentees, mentors and multipliers are available; training sessions on the use of mentoring as a measure to secure employment can be offered to the Development Partnership and the trans-national partners.
